A new teacher asked her class:
Can any one tell the story of Jonah?
No one came forward. After a pause
A nine year old boy, in the last row,
Who was a Sunday School youngster
Put up his little hand. He hesitantly
Narrated the story fairly accurately.
Teacher complimented him as the
Only boy who had read the bible
Lesson that week. The boy was not
So elated, with the teacher’s praise
He corrected teacher’s statement:
“I didn’t read it in the bible, Miss.
It was on a bubble gum wrapper.”
